“Playdate” a word that made my stomach turn pre-child. I never dreamed I would one day become a mother who looked forward to having one. If you are an OG follower to Heels & Hugs then you know my path to embracing motherhood hasn’t been the easiest (HERE).
Well, I have been loving life since putting my career on pause. One of the most interesting things I have discovered in my new job as a stay at home mother is that finding a “cool mom friend” is like dating. Yep, that’s right, dating! Meeting up with different moms and their children to see how we all vibe together. I’ve been pretty lucky in meeting moms that I enjoy hanging with, but no one quite compares to my newest mom friend, Hayley from Happily Hayley and her son Haden…
I’d like to think that our meeting was fate. You see, Hayley and I have so much in common. It’s as if we were meant to meet (forgive the mushiness). We both recently left our jobs in Television Advertising to become stay at home moms. Who also created our blogs as a creative outlet. AT.THE.SAME.TIME.
We met at a blogger event and instantly hit it off. Our conversation flowed so easily. It was as if we had known each other for years. When I found out her son Haden was the same age as Liam it was like I had hit the jackpot! I had done it! I had found a “cool mom friend” without even looking. The best part is that our boys instantly got along too!
One of our favorite playdates is taking the boys to a local park. My favorite park in Dallas is Klyde Warren Park. It is in the heart of downtown and has a splashpad the boys love!
Thanking the universe for cool mom’s. We all need a friend we can lean on. Someone who gets the joys and challenges of being a mother without judgement.
If you are a mom who is currently seeking a “cool mom friend”, BEST OF LUCK! Hang in there. And if you have already found her, take a minute to thank her!
